This is a great piece of fantasy Literature that I would classify as Historical Fiction. But it also has a fantasy character, in dealing with old myths of origins and the afterlife of the Etruscans.
These authors draw upon the wisps of historical knowledge and mystic myth of the Etruscans. They reach into the depths of history and weave the meager information about the Etruscans into a tightly woven tale of adventure and intrigue.
They combine myth and imagination to build a story of the contacts between Etruscans and Romans when the advanced culture of Etruria (the Etruscans) is being encroached upon by the aggressive Latium kingdom (Romans). They manage to include the magical aura of ancient Egypt and its religious culture and the Greek mythical world of the dead.
The story leads an Etruscan hero into the Underworld (Netherworld) that is as dangerous and uncertain as life above ground, as the powers of Good and Evil fight just as vociferously over the souls of humans as they do in the physical world. Previous generations of spirits are in play from the very beginning of the story.
This book is written totally for entertainment, but you will find the details realistic and historically inviting.
